I qualified as a small animal veterinary nurse in 2000 after spending many years working with horses in various spheres. I started out in a mixed small animal and equine practice in Gloucestershire, then moved back to Derbyshire to work in first opinion small animal practice. For the past six years I have been working in a large first opinion and referral hospital in Derby, where I first met and worked with Sarah Smith, and developed an interest in cardiology. In the last three years I have divided my time between cardiology and emergency and critical care night nursing. I am now working back with Sarah again and very pleased to have returned to the daylight.
My special interests in the veterinary nursing field are cardiology and emergency and critical care, and I also hold an additional qualification in advanced anaesthesia.
Out of work I enjoy knitting, specialising in Dr Who scarves, woolly hats and Christmas decorations. I have recently taken up needlepoint and patchwork. I love to read, especially historical detective novels, when time allows.
At home I live with my long-suffering partner and my pets: a neurotic German Shepherd cross called Moses and various tropical fish adopted from a variety of previous owners.
